Lee first started in the recruitment industry 12 years ago after realising his football career was over. Lee’s first position was as a temporary consultant working for an engineering recruiter and instantly enjoyed the fast paced environment realising no 2 days were ever the same.
Over the years Lee took a real interest in the engineering sector and gained knowledge of the different processes, divisions and job roles available.
Lee realised that to be successful he would need to gain respect form his candidates by getting a real understanding of their job roles so, as a result, Lee spent every weekend for 3 months working on his client premises alongside engineers that he would eventually go onto place. By doing this, Lee gained a huge amount of knowledge which was a great base to build his career.
Lee progressed from running a temporary desk, which included 24 hour calls placing engineers in to various manufacturing, automotive, aerospace and construction business to running a small team of consultants.
Lee quickly built his own department with a team of 6 consultants recruiting both contract and permanent engineers and thrived on being in control of his own career.
Lee’s engineering interest developed into facilities management and he quickly built another team dedicated to recruiting for this sector. Lee always had a frustration of never being able to combine the recruitment of engineers in the 2 sectors as he felt there was a huge crossover in the market.
Following this Lee took the decision to join forces with Paul Nelson, of Nelson Group Holdings and formed Nelson Engineering Solutions.
